We love Jan Brett

We had a great first week after Christmas break! Everyone enjoyed being back together!

With a short week, we had a lot to pack into two days! Our focus this week was an author study of Jan Brett. Some of the books we enjoyed reading were The Mitten, The Hat, and The Umbrella. On Tuesday, we enjoyed "sewing" our own mittens, retelling the story with our fun animal face masks, and doing an ice investigation to see if ice melted faster in our bare hands or in hands covered by mittens. See if your child can tell you which melted the ice more quickly! We also began practicing building our last names and practiced reading our poem "The Mitten."

On Wednesday, we read The Umbrella to go along with our letter U focus! We enjoyed creating our own paper plate umbrellas. You can look for our umbrellas in the hallway! Everyone was very focused on their work and did a great job practicing letter writing and painting! We also had fun checking out all of the new activities in our Green Room!

Our Bible focus this week was on how Jesus can do ANYTHING! We read the story of Jesus feeding the thousands with two fish and five loaves of bread. We also practiced this month's verse: "With God, all things are possible."

We can't wait until next week!

We also had a great time in our Bridge class this week!

We also continued our Jan Brett study with the books Hedgie's Surprise and Noah's Ark! We had fun making and painting hedgehogs. We also reviewed our color words and their spelling this week. This is definitely something to continue to practice at home! Our centers mainly focused on letter work this week. Everyone in the class did a FANTASTIC job matching the initial sounds of words with the correct letter!

What a sweet and fun group! Learning sure is fun in Bridge Class!
